About Us

My name is Katie Counts and I am the owner of Door Hanger Junction, which was established in 2021. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. First of all, I am an introvert.  I am an empty-nester in my 50’s, live in Ohio, and I have two grown children (a son and a daughter). My son and daughter-in-law have given me three adorable grandbabies (two boys and a girl).  I was married to my husband in 2020 and gained 2 adult step-sons, a daughter-in-law, and two more grandsons.  
You would think that I would be extremely busy, but by then the covid pandemic had hit. I was directed to work my full-time job as a systems analyst from home.  I hardly left the house, never saw anyone but my husband, and had way too much spare time on my hands.  

I started watching painters on You-tube videos and thought how amazing they were and that I probably could do that also.  As I painted along with various door hanger painters, I started getting an inventory of so many door hangers that I didn’t have enough holidays and/or doors to hang them all.  I decided to start posting them online for sale and setting up booths at some of the local craft shows in the area.

I have found that I actually LOVE to paint and I am really enjoying having a business.  But, it still seemed a little lonely, so after the pandemic ended, the next step in my business seemed natural. I started offering paint parties so that I could spend some time with others and get my friends and family together to paint.  That has been the best part of this business so far. It is great to be able to offer an avenue for people to get out, enjoy themselves, and offer a no-stress painting environment where everyone can excel at painting a door hanger for their own home.
I love this business and am so happy that I was in a position to be able to spend the time learning to paint, challenge myself to put myself out there and meet people, and overcome my fears of running a business for the first time.  I have made tons of friends (through online Facebook painting groups,  through the sale of my door hangers, and with the parties/classes that I have provided) during this past 2 years, and that is the best thing about this whole adventure.
